Port Day on Saturday, September 21, marked the 6th annual celebration of World Maritime Day at the Port of Vancouver. Over 10,000 people attended this free, family-friendly event to celebrate the port community and educate the public on port operations and initiatives.

The event began with a welcome by Dennis Joseph, Elder of the Squamish Nation, followed by remarks from Peter Xotta, president and CEO, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. Highlights included live music, performances, on-water demonstrations, over 40 exciting community exhibits and displays, and a new maritime career zone.

Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed interactive booths including a BC Ferries rescue boat simulator, and the BCIT Marine Campus vessel simulator. The exhibitor booths on the east plaza, Canadian Trail, and in Ballrooms A/B attracted a significant number of visitors. Performances on the North Point stage featured acts such as Leah Barley, Zynth Entertainment, Uncle Strut, Wooden Horsemen, and the headliner, Delhi 2 Dublin.

Port Day is hosted in honour of World Maritime Day to recognize and thank our local maritime community for their invaluable contributions and support in ensuring goods and cargo flow safely and efficiently throughout the region. The maritime community includes shipping and cruise lines, seafarers, barge workers, terminal operators, truckers, railway workers, longshore workers and more.

Thank you to all our partners who make Port Day possible: KTL Transport (North Point Stage partner) and the BC Maritime Employers Association (Waterfront Community Zone partner). Indigo Parc Canada is our parking partner, and Global BC, Rock 101, Curiocity, @AngieLowis and Miss604 are our media partners.
